#whyIgetoutofbed: Caitlin Rose

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Caitlin Rose, I tour, playing my music and when I’m not touring I watch movies in bed.

How Are You?

I’m very, very tired from traveling right now…

Tell us about your work

I make music. I guess country is the easiest way to describe it, though I don’t know anybody who can fully break down their work. You can never say, ‘it’s a little bit of this and some of that…’ You grow.

Do you express yourself through creativity?

I guess so, I think for me it’s more about the feeling that I’m progressing in something, searching for that feeling of achievement in life.

What was the last thing you created?

This morning I wrote a poem about my ex boyfriend’s mother’s nose job.

What has inspired you recently?

I’ve been reading a lot of Thomas Hardy’s poems.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to?

I’m into Sparklehorse and Tindersticks who are a bit darker, kind of putting their personal lives into songs in a big way. They’re very interesting to me.

Why do you get out of bed in the morning?

Because (tour manager) Shep yells at me and If I didn’t, everbody would think I was an arsehole! You have to do something!

Caitlin’s new album, ‘The Stand-In’ is available now.
