I’m Sara Darling and I’m a fashion/wardrobe and celebrity stylist and style writer.
Really great – inspired after fashion week.
Tell us about your work
I am a freelance stylist and writer, so I work on shoots, bands, celebrities and models and also consult for commercial clients.
Do you express yourself through creativity?
I am constantly inspired by what I see around me; As a stylist I look outside the box with what I wear and love to invent and customise my own creations. I love writing too as I can transform generic information into something personal.
What was the last thing you created?
I have just styled a commercial for Godiva chocolates, and my latest editorial shoot is out in March in Bond magazine. I am also the proud co-founder of 55Pages with issue 4 produced to coincide with London Fashion Week.
What has inspired you as of late?
London Fashion Week and London Collections Men. We are very lucky in London for the support of the British Fashion Council, and the opportunity that the shows provide.
In particular I loved the Ashish, KTZ and Zeynup Tosun shows. I was also lucky enough to go to the launch of the Jean Paul Gaultier ‘From Sidewalk to Catwalk’ exhibition in Rotterdam, where I got to meet the man himself!
What are you reading/watching/listening to at the moment?
I am working my way through some Christmas books – Grace A Memoir and The Fashion Universe of Jean Paul Gaultier; I am also re-reading Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho. If I’m ever at home long enough I search out Come Dine with Me on catch up TV or love foreign language movies – especially those by Pedro Almodavor. Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande, Stooshie, Frank Ocean, the Ballistic Brothers, Tindersticks or Robbie Williams always seem to end up on repeat on my playlist.
Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
Because there are not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do! I love mornings and the new possibilities they bring.
